Cryptocurrency… Don’t miss the boat!

If you are like most people, you either have NO idea what cryptocurrency is, or have heard of cryptocurrency, primarily Bitcoin. I won’t even get into how crypto started, and yes, I was around back in those days, but what I want to talk about is why you should NOT miss the boat here.

Regardless of your reasons for being interested in cryptocurrency, the fact of the matter is, there are great opportunities to make an insane amount of money. Of course, the cryptocurrency market is very volatile, similar to penny stocks, but if you know what you are doing, it can be extremely rewarding.

If you do a quick google search on crypto (I like DuckDuckGo.com), you will come across many sites telling you that they have “cracked the code”, or that they have the insiders secrets, of course all of this requires you to sign up for some sort of PAID course, or subscription. Most of the time, these subscriptions and courses contain information that is available for FREE, if you know how to use a search engine. Of course, there are some valuable courses out there, but again, just like with anything else, do your due diligence. Bottom line is, don’t be so quick to throw your hard earned money away, because there are plenty of people waiting to snatch it up, before you even get started in the “crypto/blockchain space”.

In the following days, I am going to give you a step by step guide on how to get started in the crypto world. I will cover everything from exchanges, wallets, how to research cryptos, how to make “purchases” on various exchanges, etc.

Keeping Your Crypto Safe

Security, and keeping your Crypto safe! This is one topic that is NOT talked about nearly enough. To keep it simple, I am going to be updating this blog post with visuals, more of a DO’s and DON’TS list.

More and more newbies to the Crypto space are starting to get involved, many of these people have little to no background in network security, hacking, encryption, etc. Fact is, there are MANY people out there that are actively trying to gain access to your wallet(s), in an attempt to effectively steal your digital currency. It is your responsibility to keep your wallet(s) safe. So subscribe for updates, or book mark this page, as I will be updating it over the next couple days.

Parenting and Time Management :-0

I started working online well before I had kids. I was 16 years old when I ventured into the world of working online. I was hooked, and ya know, not that it was easy, but it was MUCH easier then, than it is now. When my two daughters were younger, it wasn’t so hard, as my office was a mini play pen. It was set up for them, and I had everything I needed right there. I hosted webinars and conference calls with a baby on my lap for the most part. But as they got a little older, things got more difficult. Throw in school, friends, parties, after school activities, club sports, regular family things, I began to feel a little overwhelmed.

I now have four kiddos, ages 18, 16, 4, and 1. If there is one thing that I have had to learn, and something I am still trying to perfect is time management. So for those of you trying to work from home — the struggle is real, and I definitely feel your pain.

What has worked for me so far, is setting a schedule. Of course, I do not always stick to it, but I use it more or less as a guide. I am a night owl naturally. I used to stay up until the sun was coming up, programming, building websites, or just geeking out online, but long gone are those days, at least while the little ones are, well, little 😉 So the night owl thing isn’t working so well, I have had to re adjust my schedule. Getting up at 5 AM is rough, but everyday it gets a wee bit easier. This gives me the quiet “ME” time that I need, in order to actually get things done, and be productive.

Another important point for work at home moms, or parents in general, is DELEGATE! Look, as hard is thing is for most of us, we must learn to delegate. Give tasks to others. If you have a husband/boyfriend, or older kids, have them do a chore. For instance, my oldest, just turned 18… She lives at home, rent free, and college hasn’t started yet, so she is getting extra chores. So try to do that, give some of your responsibilities to others. I promise, it will make a HUGE difference in your stress level, your ability to be productive, and you will see just how much more time that you have to focus on building your business.

While I do work from home for the most part, I do have my mom babysit part time, and during that time, I work out of the office that I originally worked in back when I was 16 (at my parents house). This gives me time to attend webinars, conference calls, make phone calls, write emails, blog posts, the list goes on and on….

So to recap…. time management.

  • Make a “to do” list
  • Get up early and do work while everyone else is sleeping
  • Delegate
  • Try to stick to your schedule, or use it as a guide

I hope this helps you, as much as it did me.

🙂

What is an Exchange?

Exchanges are, just that, an exchange platform, where you exchange your currency for another currency. So, I want to buy Bitcoin, or another type of crypto. Once I decide on which exchange I am going to use, I simply exchange/purchase one currency for another, so to keep it simple, we will go with, USD to BTC.

Now, I hope you weren’t thinking that seemed simple enough… 😉 Not all exchanges are created equal! Some exchanges are super simple, some are straight forward, some have mobile apps, some are strictly web based, some are straight confusing as hell. I have spent a lot of time using Kraken for instance, but when I first started using Kraken, I wanted to pull my hair out. I swear to god it was the most aggravating thing to me lol. So keep that in mind when using exchanges.

Though I do use Coinbase, I try to use other exchanges more, as some of the others are geared towards traders, and most of them have more options, as far as the various cryptos available for exchange/purchase. Currently, Coinbase offers BTC (Bitcoin), BCH (Bitcoin Cash, do not confuse with Bitcoin), LTC (Litecoin, and ETH (Ethereum, often called Ether). Now, Kraken, Poloniex, Bitstamp, Binance, HitBTC and Cryptopia have more offerings. Some of them have dozens upon dozens of various cryptos that you can check out.

So, now that I have overwhelmed you a little bit, I urge you to do a little research on the various exchanges. The ones I listed above, are all exchanges that I use daily, or almost daily, depending on what’s going on in the Crypto market.

Stay tuned! Tomorrow, I will be talking about security. I should have done the security topic first, as it really is the most important part of your Crypto journey 🙂
